A Note On The Cost Of Toys
During today I realised that I might not want to buy the 6600 for various reasons I have previously mentioned elsewhere. So here I was, spending the better part of my day finding a phone that can work for me (obviously price-wise as well)...
Nokia's 6630 seemed to have done the trick, since I already know a great deal about it, and since I have some vague idea thats its almost affordable. First off all, it IS INDEED a great phone, looking at the hardware and software specs, it makes sense. Its fast, with a 220 Mhz (?) ARM Based processor, and enough memory... or that's what I think.

According to Russell Beattie The Nokia 6630 has sincere memory bullshit. And then after a while he corrects this with a postscript. I have no clue about the details of this, And it really doesn't make that much sense honestly, So if I can, I will still try and get this phone. Like I said, everything else is exactly what I want, and it actually makes my 'techtoy glands' produce techy effects. Anyway, I am a fan of Russell's writings, and he is quite a 'wise-ass', let's hope he's wrong on this, for once.
Now, moving on to the next point on the cost of toys... Cellphone contracts, in South Africa. The best way to sum it up is insanity. I'm not suprised a bit at ICASA's decision to look into "free phones" with contracts. I invite you to look for yourself, goto the operators sites, and look at the packages... Cell-c, Vodacom and MTN.
If the lazy assed banking system in South Africa outdid itself only once, I might have my money in my hand by tommorow afternoon (after waiting 5 days for a transfer from Ireland). It is pathetic, people who don't live in SA, should take a look. Businesses close when they feel like it, banks are slow, municipalities are the ICON of laziness, and there seems to be public holidays for everything here. Today was youth-day, meant for the youth, kids, and so forth. But now, half of the damn world was closed. If there was a plumbers-day, the banks would be closed on that day as well...
And enough ranting for today, Time to attend to my email, a war movie, and then bed...
