Nokia 6680 and Vodacom

Actually I am a bit late with this post. I got my phone, a Nokia 6680 two days ago already. I guess the 16 hour initial charge got to me for a while.

So yes, Vodashop phoned me, told me they got a 6680 and I can come over, and pick it up, Joy! Got there, signed the gaurantees and warranty, went home, took out my phone and started playing with it. Naturally. The initial charge of 16 hours is hell, espeically when you get a new toy. But it is all I expected and more. Great device.

I signed up for a Vodacom Weekend-Everyday contract, which basically gives thr subscriber(me, in this case) 120 offpeak minutes, for a really reasonable tariff. A very basic contract indeed. But the callrates are more than fair out of bundle...

Speaking of bundles, I phoned customer care last night, to get my GPRS activated, and in the same time, activate a 200 SMS bundle on my account, which really makes sms cheap. I will see if I can use 200 a month, but anyway, even for non-pleasure purposes, sms really have proven itself worthy in my eyes.

GPRS and MMS is broken, but thats my fault, I have discarded the "pre-set" configurations on the phone, and now I cannot find them again. No, don't even think about "sending" it from the Vodacom site, the N6680 is too new, and it it not even yet on the site. That is the drawback to having a brand new device on the market, for a few weeks, people just don't have anything for it. I couldn't even find a pouch for it, except for those body glove pouches, which in my opinion ruins my life totally. They are too tight for taking them off, and putting them on regularly, like I need to do, and they are WAY too expensive. I shall wait, until a product arrives...

Rounding this vodacom/phone post off, cheers to the Vodashop in somerset-mall for expressing excellent service, even before I trinkled a clue of spending money there. The other shops, in the same mall, just told me "Sorry sir, can't get the 6680 yet".

Yes whatever, I say. And Bye.
